A Guide to – Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris

Walt Disney Studios Park is divided into 4 primary ‘studio lots’ each representing another type of area of Hollywood. Once the park initially opened in 2002, there were Front Lot, Animation Courtyard, Production Courtyard and Backlot. Then, the opening up of  Crush’s Coaster  and  Cars in 2007 (which is brilliant).

Walt Disney Studios Park has a sister park,  Disney’s Hollywood Studios  (previously  Disney-MGM Studios ) within the  Walt Disney World Resort . Both the recreational areas share a similar theme (showbiz), and shared the identical image (The Earful Tower in Florida along with the Earffel Tower in France) right up until  The Sorcerer’s Hat  was constructed in  Disney’s Hollywood Studios  and took the position as being the park’s icon in 2001.

School-Age Boys and girls : Kids adore Disneyland (obviously) but they are so interested by Walt Disney Studios that they’ll want to return the next day (and the next and the next). The rides are great and there’s no shortage of learning possibilities. One particular favourite would be the  Art of Disney Animation , an animated and live show that educates youngsters regarding the history and techniques of cartooning.

Although  The Princess and the Frog  signalled a further advancement in the representation of race for Walt Disney Studios, nonetheless supports the myth of lower classes remaining content in their position in class-base residential areas and the thought that one can only truly aspire to success by possibly marrying into upper class or royalty, or finding that one was nobility or royalty all along, as in the example of  Tangled . In addition, this can be linked into just about the most consistent difficulties with the Disney films, the fairy tales specifically, in which the young female characters are often portrayed as either aspiring to become a little princess or are only able to discover true contentment as a result of becoming a princess.

Regardless of currently being smaller than the Disneyland Park I couldn’t actually describe it as being ‘small’ as the Walt Disney Studios covers a sizable area and hosts an abundance of rides and interesting attractions. I think it would be great to see the Studios expanded even more in the foreseeable future to rival the size of the Disneyland Park.

Walt Disney Studios has achieved a distribution package with Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks Studios, the firms announced Monday.   Disney will market a minimum of six DreamWorks live-action motion pictures every year developed as a result of DreamWorks’ contract with India’s Reliance BIG Entertainment, a significant producer of Bollywood film, they said.      The Disney deal replaces a contract DreamWorks released a year ago with Universal that fell apart in recent weeks.   The announcement failed to expose conditions, but industry press reviews stated the Universal package hit bottom when DreamWorks requested money to assist financing the films to be made under the Reliance contract.

Numerous computer animation studios are presently establishing arms for conducting activities associated with  Corporate Social Responsibility .

Pixar Animation Studios, a wholly-owned part of The Walt Disney Company, is undoubtedly an Academy Award®-winning motion picture studio with world-renowned technological, innovative, and production abilities in the art of computer animation. Originator of many of the most successful and much loved computer animated motion pictures of them all, such as the Toy Story and Cars films, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, WALL•E and Up. The Northern California studio has won 29 Academy Awards® and seven Golden Globes®, and its 12 feature films have grossed more than $8.0 billion at the worldwide box office.

Disneyland’s ‘RC Racer’ ride…

The ultimate racecar track.

A Toy-Story classic…Andy has unpacked his RC Racer play set to construct a “Hot Wheels” half pipe of epic proportions. Towering above you, the curved orange track comes complete with its own lime green RC race car, zooming back and forth, flying up into the air at breathtaking 90-degree angles.

Situated at the back of Toy Story Playland at Disneyland Paris amongst mature trees which double as overgrown bushes in this oversized universe, RC Racer is the big thrill of the land and the Disneyland Parks third roller coaster when it opened in August 2010.

Tips

  • Ride RC Racer as early or late in the day as possible. This very popular ride also unfortunately has a very low capacity, leading to 70 minute-plus queues on the busiest days.
  • Although the front seats give a big “rush” as you dive back down into the halfpipe, the seats at the back might be the best as they offer a better view over the whole ride vehicle.

Disney’s ‘Crush’s Coaster’ ride in Paris…

Grab your shell, dude!

Jump aboard a spinning turtle shell, ride the rocky currents and surf along with Nemo and Squirt on a thrilling “undersea” ride…

Disneyland Paris’s Crush’s Coaster ride opened in June 2007 as part of the first Toon Studio expansion project, which included Cars Quatre Roues Rallye along with the renaming and enhancing of the original land, this attraction is entirely unique to the park and one of the most instantaneously popular Disney rides in recent memory.

Walt Disney Imagineering worked for the first time with German company Maurer Söhne, taking their popular Xtended SC-2000 roller coaster model and elaborating upon it to such an extent that its’ origins are truly invisible to the visitor.

The roller coaster itself is housed within the vast walls of Studio 5, occurring largely in darkness with merely projection effects of bubbles. For fans and frequent visitors the attraction is often a point of contention – its rather limited capacity not holding up to immense popularity, nor overall themeing and attention to detail being quite as lavish as you might expect from Disney for what has become, a major, must-see ride.

However, the attraction scores highly with visitors to ensure it is both hugely convincing, feeling truly as if you’re coasting and swirling through undersea currents, and incredibly good fun – just look to the never-ending lines for proof.

Tips

  • It’s almost impossible to ride Crush’s Coaster without a lengthy wait, even on quiet days, such is its overwhelming popularity. Try to ride first thing in the day, just before park closure or during the main parades or shows for the shortest wait.
  • As the many in-park warnings state — Crush’s Coaster really is a turbulent, fast and exciting roller coaster-type ride. The coaster inside Studio 5 is more thrilling than the drop you see outside.
  • No, unfortunately Disney’s Fastpass is not available here — though it has been tested several times in the past. These tests were largely unsuccessful, with the extra guests using tickets making the wait in the normal queue unbearable and causing many operational headaches for Cast Members due to the low capacity of the ride.

Princess Pavilion officially open…

Princess Pavilion officially opens at Disneyland Paris with royal ceremony …and 120 minute wait time

Sunday, 9th October 2011

It’s been a long time coming..! But it’s finally here…after waiting five years for a new attraction at Disneyland Park, the first since the opening of Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast in 2006, and here it is: a princess meet ‘n’ greet. Nevertheless, the brand new Princess Pavilion was given a ceremonial opening day this Saturday as Régis Alart and Osvaldo del Mistero, Disneyland Paris Ambassadors, joined the Disney Princesses for a special inauguration ceremony. Fresh from their stint as Thunder Mesa town officials for the re-inauguration of Molly Brown earlier this year, the ambassadors proved themselves game once again by donning gold-stitched outfits perfectly befitting the kingdom of Fantasyland — even the tights!

Ambassadors for the royal court of Fantasyland, the ambassadors led the ceremony entirely in French but eschewed the usual black-suited ribbon cutting by introducing four of the princesses – Snow White, Aurora, Cinderella and Tiana  – one by one, to a series of fitting musical cues. All the while, as this medieval pomp was going on, fans were tweeting out live pictures, Finally, two young princesses selected from the crowd helped to pull the cover from a “Princess Pavilion” sign as the attraction was declared officially open. And, proving extremely popular, within an hour, attracted a 120 minute wait time.

The inside is practically unrecognizable from its time as the post-show room at the exit of “it’s a small world”. Stone walls, ornate carved columns and cornicing, eight beautiful backlit stained glass windows and eight crystal artifacts representing each princess line the queue. The lighting is subtle yet certainly high-tech: the torches on the walls dance in a realistic flicker, the artifacts are lit by fibre optics and change colour. Particularly stunning is the flower for Rapunzel, who rightly won the eighth spot over Mulan, which bursts into golden light from within just as in the film. A long wait it has been, but at least visitors are now warm and cosy, inside and surrounded by top-quality Disney design work.

If this is how Disneyland Park does a meet ‘n’ greet, we can’t wait until it gets a real new attraction, we wait with baited breath!

Frontierland – Disneyland Paris

The Wild West is waiting…

Cowboys, Indians, calm rivers, a thundering mine train, ghostly encounters … the frontier of the Far West

Strolling down the Main Street to the left of the Central Plaza lush forests and the sounds of a small stream beckon guest to step into the shade between the trees – are there really tipis standing next to the water stream? A little bit further down the trail Fort Comstock, constructed by early pioneers out of heavy tree trunks, guards the entrance to Frontierland

Step through its heavy gates and find yourself in Thunder Mesa, a small mining town of the 19th century. Just across from the fort the rocky slopes of Big Thunder Mountain inspired by the landscapes of the american south west are reflected in the wide waters of the Rivers of the Far West, which are home to the elegant Riverboats Mark Twain and Molly Brown as well as the smaller, agile Keelboats of the smugglers. Towering over the small mining town is the decript Phantom Manor, now home to the the ghosts of the past but once the pride of the small town, when its mine in the depths of Big Thunder Mountain was still fueling a gold rush. On the far end of the land, set back from the rivers pioneers are beginning to tame the wild west on the Cottonwood Creek Ranch, not too far from the Frontierland Depot connecting Frontierland to the other fantastic realms of the Disneyland Park.

Do you dare to step onboard of one of the old mine trains to venture into the mine on the island? Or would you prefer an encounter with the ghosts of Thunder Mesa in Phantom Manor? What about a meeting with your preferred Disney characters in wild west style at the Lucky Nugget? You could also enjoy a leisurely cruise on the Rivers of the Far West, explore an Indian playground or meet with Woody and his gang at Woody’s Round-Up on Cottonwood Creek Ranch or enjoy a show at the Chaparral Theater right next door.

There are adventures in best wild west style for every taste – including culinary style at the Silver Spur Steakhouse, the mexican inspired Fuente del Oro Restaurante or the family friendly Cowboy Cookout Barbecue - type and style not the least the beautiful atmosphere that envites for a stroll along the shores of the Rivers of the Far West from water spewting geysers to hidden verandas overlooking peaceful waterways.

So what are you waiting for? Put on your cowboy hat (also available at the shops in the Thunder Mesa Mercantile Building in case you forgot yours) and saddle up for a blazing wild west experience!

Fantasyland – Disneyland Paris

The Wonderful World of Disney Classics

Fantasyland, invites young and old to relive the wonderful memories of the many beautiful fairy tale stories from the classic Disney films…

As guests wander their way up Main Street USA upon entering the park they cannot help gazing at the beautiful castle ahead of them. As symbol for all that the park stands for Le Chateau de la Belle au Bois Dormant represents the make believe fantasy world that is the DisneylandPark. As well as being the parks most famous icon, it also forms the entrance into the section of the park based upon Disney’s classic fairy tale films Fantasyland.

Wandering through the castle guests can gaze up to the roof, Held up by huge columns carved into the shape of trees they somehow seem to sparked as if they were designed by magic. Here in the gallery guests can also view the fabulous tapestries and stained glass windows based upon Disney’s classic film Sleeping Beauty, Before passing out onto a balcony which offers a panoramic view of Fantasyland.

Behind the castle guests pass into a courtyard which includes an anvil in to which the magic sword “Excalibur” is embedded. Just beyond “Excalibur” is a beautiful carrousel that features finely carved horses which gallop around accompanied to music from Disney’s classic films.

The whole design of Fantasyland was strongly influenced by European architecture including beautiful tiled roof cottages with wooden rafters and gables that look straight from the pages of a story book.

Surrounding the cottages beautifully manicured landscaping includes perfectly shaped topiaries and colourful flower beds, The winding cobblestone paths lead in all directions towards different storybook adventures.

Take a ride into the stories of Snow White, Pinnochio, or even aboard a magical floating galleon with Peter Pan, These are just a few of the attractions to enjoy. Others include a hedge maze themed around Alice in Wonderland and a boat trip past intricately detailed models of some of the worlds most famous fairy tales.

One of the reasons Fantasyland is so popular amongst younger visitors is that it is one of the best places to meet the famous Disney characters in person. Everyone from Mickey to Cinderella, The Queen of Hearts to Pluto can be found on occasion wandering around the area. Be sure to carry a camera with you because you can never be sure who you will meet next.

Another place you can see you favourite Disney characters is towards the back of the land at the Fantasy Festival Stage here guests can enjoy shows featuring many of Disney’s on screen stars.

Discoveryland – Disneyland Paris

Shooting for the Stars…

A futuristic tribute to the worlds big visionaries from European history…

In Disney’s other Magic Kingdoms around the world a part of the park called Tomorrowland gives a futuristic view of the future with rockets, Aliens and gleaming metal. Unfortunately in today’s high speed world the dreams of tomorrow rapidly become the reality of today, so here in Disneyland Paris, Disney decided to try a new angle on this area. Discoveryland is dedicated to the visionaries of yesterday and how they may have envisioned the future that we are now all a part of. Many of histories greatest visionaries lived in Europe, so here at Euro Disney pays them a fitting tribute, Recreating their dreams. H.G. Wells and Leonardo da Vinci feature with their ideas of time travel and flight, but the most influential visionary of all the great French author Jules Verne is the main contributor to the area.

Much of Discoveryland’s boiler plate and rivet design derives from Disney’s film adaptation of Jules Verne’s book 20.000 Leagues Under the Sea A Discoveryland attraction based on the film offers guests the chance to experience a walking tour of Captain Nemo’s mythical submarine “The Nautilus”. After passing through numerous detail rooms guests find themselves under attack from the mythical Giant Squid.

In another Verne book “From The Earth To The Moon” he wrote about mans mission to travel through space on a journey to the moon. One of Disney’s premiere attractions “SpaceMountain” recreates that story through a huge indoor roller coaster experience. “Space Mountain: Mission II” is an updated version of the attraction where guests board a rocket vehicle and are loaded in to a giant cannon pointed skywards which launches, taking them through an unforgettable high speed ride in near darkness with a new soundtrack and updated effects.

Buzz Lightyear can also be found at Discoveryland. He needs the help of all the guest to defeat the Evil Zurg. At the Cafe Hyperion enjoy a bite to eat before relaxing at the Videopolis stage where Disney theme shows are performed seasonally.

The part of the land situated furthest from the entrance takes a slightly different look at the future, Through the eyes of visionaries of today. Guests have a chance to enter the world of George Lucas aboard “Star Tours”. Based on the “Star Wars” movies guests pass through an airport of the future, Here flights don’t leave for other countries, but other planets. After guests board their Star Speeder to the moon of “Endor” home of the Ewoks they discover it is the pilots first flight and he still has a little to learn about space flight…. Good Luck

Also in this area of Discoveryland guests get the chance to visit the Imagination Institute. No longer for its the annual “Inventor of the year awards” where Professor Wayne Salinsky demonstrates his amazing shrinking machine but to re-visit the Captain EO revised attraction. Michael Jackson is back with his odd space crew to share his special gift of music and dance with the “Supreme Leader” to convince her of her inner beauty.

Adventureland – Disneyland Paris

An Adventure Awaits…

Adventureland opens the gateway to many exotic locations, the deepest jungles, distant lands of the Far East and deserted desert islands all in one. Only at Disney could you enjoy the tastes, Sights and sounds of so many differing continents all within a short walk of each other.

The entrance to Adventureland is a Moroccan style archway its onion domed roofs standing in stark contrast to the brightly coloured facade of Main Street. After passing through it guests find themselves wrapped up in a flavour of a bustling Arabian bazaar. Gifts including confectionery, Trinkets, Hand made craft items and Disney themed gifts can be found within the interconnecting passage ways.

The main body of Adventureland can loosely be divided in half. Towards the right hand side of the land guests can get a flavour for life on the high sea, In an area highly influenced by the headliner ride featured here Pirates of the Caribbean. After queuing through the deepest darkest dungeons guests pass into a tropical grove, Here they board their boats for an adventure into the life of a buccaneer. What follows is a true example of what make Disney so unique. A series of inter linking scenes which include dozens of Disney’s famous robotic actors the “Audioanimatronics” who play out scenes including a battle at sea and the burning of a town.

Near to the exit of the ride another pirate landmark can be discovered, “Skull Rock” from the Pirates Cove featured in the movie Peter Pan glares ominously across the lake. Its rugged features look as if they were caused by years of erosion but of course it’s just another Disney special effect. Close by Captain Hooks ship is moored proudly flying the Jolly Roger skull and cross bones.

The other side of Adventureland is designed to depict the exotic jungle. Here guests can explore undiscovered jungle paths, Pass huge water falls and bamboo lined walkways. In a hidden clearing are the remains of a recently discovered temple which archaeologists have just begun to explore. Jump aboard one of the mine cars which run around the rickety scaffolding around structure on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril the first Disney roller coaster in the world to include a complete inversion.

A short distance away guests can get bird’s eye view, Not only of Adventureland but beyond as they climb the steps of the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House. Built by the family in the branches of a Huge Banyan tree when their ship was wrecked nearby. The remains of the ship can still be explored on theshore of Adventure Isle and are just one of the many curious items guests can discover as they wander around the rope bridges and the labyrinth of hidden tunnels which run through the roots of the old tree.

Disney Paris – Main Street, U.S.A

Welcome in ‘Disneyland Paris’s Main Street, U.S.A.

Let the magic of Disneyland begin once you enter the park through Main Street U.S.A.

MainStreet,U.S.A.

Hold on tight you are about to be transported back in time to a recreation of a turn of the century small town American street. Based on the great Walt Disney’s own memories of growing up around this time in Chicago Illinois Main Street USA is beautifully detailed in every aspect.

Before continuing down Main Street U.S.A. guests can visit City Hall to pick up some guide maps schedule list or to make some lunch and dinner reservations. Outside City Hall you will find horse drawn streetcars were the fun can really begin or take a ride on one of the main street vehicles riding along Main Street U.S.A. or taking a relaxing stroll, either way you will pass the beautifully themed shops and restaurants. The smell of freshly backed cookies, the beautiful window displays of the shops and the colourful houses are the beginning of your trip into the magical park.

Behind the shops guest also have the choice to explore the Liberty Arcade, where pictures and artefacts trace the history of the Statue of Liberty, including a Tableau recreates the dedication of the statue. Discovery Arcade, on the opposite side, looks at inventions and the way in which they shape our life on how visionaries of the past envision the future we are now living in.

At the furthest end of the street guests arrive at the very heart of the park “CentralPlaza”. Situated here are the gateways to all of the other lands at Disneyland Paris. Guests may choose to enter the Wild West, Outer Space, The Deepest Jungle or the pages of a Story Book.
